How To Do Half Moon Pose – A Demonstration By Yoga Instructor Kinga Gorski (VIDEO)

I got to sit down with Vancouver based yoga and fitness instructor Kinga Gorski. One of the things she showed me was how to do Half Moon pose. Watch below!
Here’s what she had to say about doing her favourite pose:
One of my favourite poses is Ardha Chandrasana, which is half moon. And honestly, it just makes me feel like a human star [laughs]. That’s it.
So how you get into half moon, prop yourself down on your hands, maybe on a couple of blocks if you have. Start to find your supporting leg and then float your left leg up, finding your L position.
From here, if you’re on your right leg, you’re going to tent your right finger tips, maybe on a block as well, start to open up your left side hip, maybe take the leg a little bit higher, engaging that outer hip and back strength. And then floating your left arm up.
From here you can stay supported, maybe float your hand to heart centre, maybe take a reach. You can play around with a few variations of half moon.
Once you get comfortable taking it slowly piece by piece, you can start off in maybe warrior two, and then come up straight finding your half moon. So taking a little cartwheel into it, and then, human star! [laughs].
Thanks Kinga! It’s always fun to play around with poses! 🙂
