Why We Should Spend Time In Nature

Research discussed in Harvard Health Publishing found that 20 minutes of time in nature reduces cortisol levels, which means you feel less stressed.

Another study found that 20 minutes in nature boosted immune systems for 2 weeks (listen for more on this during this Knowledge Project podcast episode – it’s fascinating).

In Japan, people frequently do “forest bathing” where they spent time in nature, breathing in the clean air. The practice has been found to improve many things like mood, sleep, and immune system functioning.

For me, spending time in nature is calming. It’s a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. I definitely feel refreshed after getting outside. I love to go for hikes, stand up paddle board, or swim in tropical oceans.
